TO FARMING AND BEYOND...REVAMPING THE AGRICULTURE SECTOR IS THE WAY FORWARD.

To give Agriculture a facelift ensures it produces more value than we already gain.

For ages, smallholder farmers have contributed massively to the Agriculture sector of Ghana, especially in the Cocoa Industry. Ghana is a fertile land and everything that goes into the soil blossoms into fully grown crops ready for harvest.

In the local communities, most inhabitants are farmers by default. They depend on their farming activities to survive. Agriculture is a field that can be commercialized to produce a bumper harvest for greater earnings both on the local and International markets.  However, Ghana faces some challenges like limited availability of good planting material and market access for off take. Again, although a field with a lot of value, there is limited cash flow.

The Government of Ghana has set up policies for the Agriculture sector to improve the farming activities of the small holder farmers, commercial farmers, women and even the youth who want to venture into agriculture. One of such initiatives is the flagship programme Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) and its modules addressing crop production, animal farming, greenhouse technology villages, mechanized services, tree crop exports and rural development. The government seeks to cooperate with the private sector for sustainable policies. This, they can do by working with private companies and supporting projects that will benefit the sector.
